One of the world's most exciting celebrations of early music is the Berkeley Festival & Exhibition and the American Recorder Society will be there with a series of ARS-sponsored events. A series of vignette recitals showcasing the next generation of recorder professionals. Emerging professionals will have an opportunity to be heard at a major early music venue.

ARS Roundtable Discussion, 2:45 to 3:45 pm
"Early Music Is Hot! How Do We Make the Recorder Sizzle?" will be the topic as professional recorder players and concert presenters take part in this discussion.

ARS Coached Playing Session, 4 to 5 pm

Early Music Written Today!

Glen Shannon, a composer of music in historical styles, will present four pieces in three flavors. Italian Baroque will be represented by Vivaldi’s Ark Celebration Concerto, an exciting concerto for 12 (6 pairs- recorders, oboes, clarinets, trumpets, violins, cellos) plus solo cowbell and continuo, in a Very Vivaldi style. Two recorder ensemble works reminiscent of the Flemish Renaissance will be presented, and a French Baroque dance suite for traverso, oboe d’amore, violin and continuo will finish the set.
