Who can apply?

Any member who would like to attend a workshop and could use some financial assistance is eligible to apply. You need not provide proof of financial need. ARS scholarships are available to players of all ages and ability levels - recent scholarship recipients range in age from 12 to 65. Applicants should show a serious interest in the recorder and enjoy sharing their love of the instrument with others. Recorder should be the main instrument played at the workshop for which an applicant is applying.

Must I be a member of ARS?

Yes, the ability to apply for scholarships and grants is a benefit to ARS members. (The one exception is for Educational Outreach Grant applicants.)
Anyone who is not a current member is eligible to join ARS at our half-price introductory special, with the first year costing $25. This also applies to former members who have lapsed for over 5 years.

Where can I use my scholarship?

Scholarships are awarded for attendance at both week-long and weekend workshops. Weekend workshops are defined as those lasting 4 days or less. Due to the pandemic, scholarships may be used for online/virtual workshops at an amount necessary for the online format, not to exceed $500.
