Martha Bixler Dies at 93

Professional recorder player and teacher Martha Bixler died at age 93. A key figure in the American early music movement since the 1950s, she twice served as ARS president and was the first editor of American Recorder. She received the ARS Distinguished Achievement Award in 1996. Bixler also played a significant role in other early music organizations, including as a founding member of the Historic Brass Society.
