The ARS Wants YOU!
Our committees need volunteers—and you could be just the help we need! The American Recorder Society does its very best to provide a bounty of benefits for its members:
- American Recorder magazine, a treasure trove of informative articles, music reviews, professional profiles
- Members' Library music editions
- Chapter Leader Roundtable Zoom discussions, an invaluable resource for Chapter & Consort leadership
- Online beginner and intermediate level recorder lessons that began during the pandemic and continue to attract scores of learners, who discover the beauty of the recorder
- Scholarships and grants that help any ARS member attend the workshop of their dreams regardless of financial need
- and the organization’s website, a source of easy-to-use community directories, play-along libraries, technique tip videos, a calendar of upcoming events, and so, so much more.
- Staffing a table at annual Early Music festivals -- for instance, this year's Berkeley Festival and Exhibition
This stunning array of resources is executed by a staff of two, and a Board of 15 volunteers divided into committees: Communications; Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; Finance; Fundraising; Governance; Member Benefits; and Scholarships & Grants. Every Board member serves on at least two committees and most, if not all, committees can use your input.
Are you looking for a way to contribute to support the instrument you love? Could it be that, in addition to your growing expertise on the recorder, you possess other unheralded talents? Do you enjoy rolling up your sleeves, pitching in and creating something for the benefit of others? Then becoming an American Recorder Society committee volunteer could be just the ticket!
