Kathy Sherrick, former ARS Administrative Director, passes away
Kathy Sherrick, Administrative Director for the ARS from 2004 until 2015, passed away on April 20, 2026. She was elected to the ARS Board in 2002, serving as Assistant Treasurer and chair of the fundraising committee. In 2004, a search was launched for a new ARS Administrative Director and Kathy was selected. While Administrative Director of the ARS, she oversaw the only four conferences the ARS has held, as well as the ARS70 and ARS75 celebrations.
Kathy was known for being a diehard St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and for her work with the Recorder Orchestra of the Midwest (ROMW). Kathy's daughter announced, "We will be celebrating her life on May 23 at Faith Des Peres Presbyteri

an Church in Kirkwood, MO, followed by a reception at PJ’s Tavern." We will update this news article when more details are available. The photo shows Kathy, right, with her daughter Lucy.
A beautiful tribute from Clea Galhano, director of ROMW follows.
I have known Kathy Sherrick for more than two decades. We first met through the American Recorder Society, where she served as the Executive Director. Later, our paths crossed frequently in St. Louis; After that, she came to Bloomington, Indiana, where she became a vital part of ROMW( recorder Orchestra of the Midwest) .
Not only was it wonderful to have Kathy playing in the orchestra, but we also spent many weekends together celebrating and talking about her great love: baseball. She eventually became the treasurer of the orchestra and served until she passed away. Everyone loved Kathy for her dry sense of humor, her gentleness, and her friendship. She will be very missed. Wherever she is now, I am sure she is playing the recorder, watching a game, and celebrating with her community with a glass of beer.
We love you, Kathy. Thanks for supporting the recorder in our community and for all the work you did for it.
