Your ARS Billing Questions, Answered


When does my term expire?

Your membership term expires on the anniversary of the day you joined, or the day you were reinstated if you dropped your ARS membership at some point and came back. See the next item below to see the process of finding out what that date is.
 

How can I pay online?

Log into your member account and you’ll see the Member dashboard. Click the second tab, Billing, and you will be able to see your membership plan, current/pending membership term, and whether you are enrolled in any recurring payments. We offer Autopay, which is for renewals only, and separately we have a program for recurring donations. You can sign up for recurring donations at americanrecorder.org/donate (set up your monthly amount and be sure to check the box at the bottom of the page that says "Schedule donation as a monthly recurring payment."

 

How do I know if I'm on Autopay?

Log into your member account and you’ll see the Member dashboard. Click the second tab, Billing, to see whether you are on Autopay. You will be able to edit your credit card information or opt out if you so choose. Recurring donors will also be able to change their monthly donation information.

 

Is there a way to opt out of Autopay?

Yes, with every renewal invoice you have a chance to opt out or edit your Autopay. Scroll down the email to see the paragraph on Autopay. Or you can go to your member profile, go to the Billing tab and click "Enter Autopay Info." At the bottom there will be a box saying "Delete Credit Card/Bank Info" which will enable you to pay it yourself instead of using automatic billing.
 

Can I still pay by check?

Yes! Mail it to the ARS address: PO Box 480054, Charlotte NC 28269-5300. Please allow 2-3 weeks for your check to arrive and be processed. If you are concerned about being dropped in the meantime, feel free to send us an email explaining the circumstance to ars.recorder@americanrecorder.org.

 

Is there still a 2-year membership option?

No, we discontinued the 2-year membership program in 2023.

 

Do I get a warning before my membership term comes due?

Yes, you will receive an emailed dues invoice 60 days before your term ends, and then 30 days, and then on the day it ends. A paper invoice will be sent if you are past due.

 

Do I get a paper invoice?

Yes, if we don’t have an email address for you, or if you’re past due, we will mail you a paper invoice.

 

How do I get a discount for online-only access (not receiving a printed magazine)?

Enter DIGITAL into the discount code option when renewing to get $5 off your dues.

 

Are there other discounts available?

Yes, here are the other discounts we currently offer:

  • Students: $20 off with a current student ID and code “STUDENT” or $25 off with code “STUDENTDIGITAL” for a digital membership

  • New members: Half off with code “HALFPRICE”

 

Can I give a gift of membership?

Absolutely! You can gift a year of membership to a new or existing member by using the gift membership form on our website.
